Intra-Oral Camera

Intra-Oral Camera

While x-rays provide valuable information that we can't get from any other source, they can't show everything that's going on in a patient’s mouth. That's why we use an intraoral camera. An intra-oral camera, an advanced educational and diagnostic tool is a very small camera that has a built in light source, and serves as a tiny video camera that allows us to zoom in on one tooth with up to 25 times magnification, or can give a patient a video tour of their entire mouth. These pictures can then be viewed on a high quality computer monitor enabling the patient to see exactly what Dr. Scianni is viewing in their mouth. These high quality photographs enable Dr. Scianni to better visualize and diagnose conditions such as decay, broken teeth, cracks in teeth, or infections in the patient's mouth. In addition this also helps the patient better understand the condition of their mouth, their dental needs and gives them the ability to make an informed decision about their dental treatment with confidence. If necessary these photographs can document the necessity for a patient’s dental treatment upon request by an insurance company.
